How GetCafePOS works in the USA

Tax
Sales tax is set per location (state + county + city rates combined into a tax group) and added at checkout; prices on your menu can be shown before tax, as US customers expect. Food and drink categories can carry different rates where your state treats them differently.
Currency & formats
US dollars, cents, month/day/year dates, 12-hour clock.
Payments
Cards and mobile wallets (tap to pay with Apple Pay and Google Pay) through your processor’s terminal; cash with a drawer; custom tenders like gift cards or house accounts.
Languages
English, Spanish and Korean at the counter are common; the register and receipts can switch per user.
How to reach us
Phone and email are the main channels; text messages for order-ready alerts and win-back offers (bundle).
Trading week
Mon–Sun trading, with the busiest windows on weekday mornings and weekend brunch.
Receipts
English receipts with an optional second language line; email or printed.

What’s different about selling coffee here

  • Tipping on coffee orders is normal; small fixed presets suit small tickets better than percentages.
  • Most US POS vendors tie you to their own processing and sell loyalty and online ordering as add-ons.
  • Independent coffee shops make up a large share of US cafes; order-ahead from your own link keeps margin away from marketplaces.

Questions from USA cafe owners

Answered by the GetCafePOS team. Can’t find yours? Ask us.

Does GetCafePOS handle US sales tax?

Yes. Create a tax group per location combining state, county and city rates, assign it to products, and tax is added at checkout and shown on receipts and reports. Check rates with your state; GetCafePOS applies the rates you set.

Which US cities do you support?

All of them — the software is online. We have written local guides for Los Angeles, New York and Houston, where many Korean-American and Hispanic-owned cafes operate.

Can my staff use the register in Spanish or Korean?

Yes. Each user can work in their own language while receipts print in the language you choose.

What does it cost in the US?

See the price on this page: three plans per location, monthly or annual, sales tax added at checkout.

Do you support SNAP or EBT?

Most cafes don’t accept EBT for hot drinks. If your store sells eligible items and is FNS-approved, EBT runs through a certified processor; GetCafePOS can record it as a tender.

Can I accept tips on the card terminal?

Tips can be added on GetCafePOS’s customer screen or entered from your processor’s terminal; either way they are recorded per sale and per staff member.
